"The governing coalition in Slovakia was incapable of approving the European Financial Stabilisation Mechanism, despite the fact that the Prime Minister and the finance minister have declared repeatedly in Brussels and at international forums that Slovakia would approve the Eurobond. The governing coalition turned down the invitation of the SMER-SD party for discussions on support, saying that it must handle the matter alone. On the other hand, the Prime Minister linked the Eurobond vote to a vote of confidence in the government. In this way, she completely ruled out the support of the opposition.
SMER-SD is a pro-European party which unanimously supports the Eurobond. The Slovak Parliament will this week approve early elections and then the Eurobond as well, which SMER-SD regards as an essential precondition for the stability of the common currency, and a precondition for the continuing existence of the European Community."@en1
