Despite Parliament’s new powers under the Treaty of Lisbon to obtain the Court’s opinion on the validity of international agreements, I believe that agreements such as those underlying the motion for a resolution should not be used to pursue objectives that clearly go far beyond them, and whose particular sensitivity merits suitable caution. The attempt to judicialise the foreign policy of the EU and its Member States is a dangerous route to go down, and one that must be avoided by all responsible political decision makers."@en1
