Meanwhile, as the rapporteur has stressed, EU Member States still do not consider food security and the fight against poverty (the Millennium Development Goals adopted at the Millennium Summit of the United Nations in September 2000) to be policy priorities. We should look at food security in a wider, global perspective. Developing countries must achieve independent and stable access to food for their citizens, and our actions should be oriented towards this goal.
