"Tourism is the EU’s third largest socio-economic activity, accounting for 10% of gross domestic product and 12% of employment as a whole. It is a crucially important sector since, in addition to furthering the integration and development of less developed regions, it manages to combine growth, sustainable development and ethics in the EU Member States, and is also a vital tool in boosting, spreading and promoting our global image. Owing to the above, it is absolutely essential to create a new political framework for European tourism that continues to promote Europe as the world’s number one tourist destination."@en1
