Homelessness represents one of the most extreme forms of poverty and deprivation. In several EU Member States in recent years it has increased. One of the objectives of the EU 2020 strategy is to lift at least 20 million people out of the risk of poverty and social exclusion. To achieve this, we need a strategic approach. Member States should end street homelessness by 2015. The Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council should discuss how to develop an EU homelessness strategy."@en1
