"Madam President, it is more than 30 years since we had the first direct elections for Members of the European Parliament, and I welcome Mr Duff’s report. However, I do not support the notion of transnational lists as this would therefore create two categories of MEPs: some who are elected in national constituencies and the others who ought to be elected based on an EU-level constituency. I wanted to emphasise this point because it is important that MEPs are equal and that, therefore, they can represent the citizens of Member States."@en1
