"In the opinion of many of those who hold political power, ‘more Europe’ is the solution to European financial, economic and social problems. In many areas, the EU could usefully begin to take action against global financial speculators and to protect the European economy. However, I do not believe that a European governance system, in other words, economic governance, would allow us to achieve our objectives. First of all, the EU must comply with its own Treaties in order to uphold the rule of law. This has not been the case with regard to the aid provided to Greece. Alternatives to the current difficulties have not even been considered. This report will completely abolish the national sovereignty of the Member States. In addition, the principle of subsidiarity, which was previously upheld by the EU, is being totally ignored. This will be the end of democracy in Europe."@en1
