The negotiations were therefore long and complicated, and I would like to thank the rapporteur, Mrs Sommer, and the shadow rapporteurs for their patience and responsiveness in seeking a definitive text. I am pleased that a compromise has been reached over the labelling of energy values: per 100 ml or 100 g and per single portion on the front of the packaging. Consumers should be provided with the essential information, but complex and ambiguous labelling would be to the detriment of consumers."@en1
