lpv:translated text	"A year on from the earthquake in Haiti, we can see that the steps we are taking, or the way in which we are helping, are not perfect. For this reason, the European consensus that arose to facilitate the provision of humanitarian aid must not be squandered. The EU, as one of the richest and most developed regions in the world, has a moral duty to help the weak and those in need. In particular, we must maintain solidarity with the victims of natural disasters and catastrophes who are not prepared for what happens to them. We should, therefore, take action to strengthen cooperation between Member States in this area and facilitate the sharing of best practices. We should do everything so that the aid system is efficient and effective and not one cent is wasted. Cooperation is, therefore, necessary with other international, non-governmental bodies and organisations that also provide aid, in order to make this more effective."@en1
