"Mr President, I should like to ask you what the expression ‘test pilot’ means? It means the pilot who tests the aircraft during flight. What is a ‘test passenger’? This concept was recently invented by the Latvian airline airBaltic. It is a pity, however, that airBaltic failed to inform passengers that they were participating in tests. For instance, airBaltic seats passengers in the aircraft and, later, while they are in the air, it turns out that the aircraft has technical problems, as a result of which it makes an emergency landing. In my opinion, an aircraft should be made ready pre-flight, not during the flight, especially when it contains passengers. Recently, airBaltic has registered a very large number of emergencies. I should like to draw the attention of Members and the European Commission to the problem of air safety. A frivolous attitude can result in tragic consequences. Thank you."@en1
