"Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, we know that it is bad to lie. We know that when someone promises something, but then fails to carry out those promises, that constitutes deceit. Six years ago, when negotiations on Latvia’s accession to the European Union were taking place, the Latvian Government promised the EU Enlargement Commissioner that it would solve the non-citizen problem. To this day, this question has not been resolved. Latvia is long since part of the EU, but 300 000 people in Europe, who live in Latvia, remain without status today. It seems to me that lying at the European level has become fashionable. Perhaps I am mistaken. If I am mistaken, then this problem must be solved. It is very important. Thank you for your attention."@en1
