".
Particularly in view of the possible negative impact of aquaculture, it is all the more important for there to be clear standards here. However, clear standards must not mean that the EU lays down regulations in this regard, because when we harmonise our regulations we naturally always settle on the lowest common denominator. Firstly, this is not acceptable in the name of environmental protection and nature conservation. Secondly, this matter must not be used to further ambitions towards more centralisation, and thirdly, absolutely no consideration has been given to the situation of the local fishermen – after all, there are 170 million jobs connected to the fisheries industry worldwide. For the aforementioned reasons, I have no option but to reject this report."@en1
