Concern amongst political decision makers about the clarity of negotiations relating to sport is nothing new and nor is the suspicion that the conduct of many agents of sportspeople is allegedly reprehensible or even against the law and that they put sporting integrity, the health and safety of the sportspeople they represent, and the truth at risk in their commercial transactions. The links of some of these agents with organised crime has also been noted. This worrying situation is worthy of all the attention that the European Union can give it. We urgently need to separate the wheat from the chaff, so as to promote the hard work, transparency and discipline required in performing this activity."@en1
