lpv:translated text	"Mr President, Commissioner, Mrs Martínez Lozano, in a recent article published in entitled it states that in the US, women do not run Wall Street, nor are they to blame for this financial crisis, but that, in the face of the situation brought about through the lack of regulation of financial market, it is they who are now being called upon and appointed to positions of leadership in order to clean up the mess caused by their male managers. This is interesting. The men caused the crisis and the women will have to resolve it. Putting irony aside, the global economy is facing the worst recession since the Great Depression. It has had social repercussions throughout the European Union and the worst effects of it have fallen on women, as they are subject to greater job insecurity, more prone to dismissal and less likely to be covered by social security systems. In this context, there are well-founded fears that many Member States might reduce funding for the social sector, once again affecting predominantly women. It is not fair that the most vulnerable are those who have to pay for the mistakes of the speculators. I would like to conclude by congratulating the Spanish Presidency for giving priority to combating gender-based violence."@en1
