) We voted in favour of the report on educating the children of immigrants, as the report addressed a current and relevant problem. However, we both believe that it should be the Member States that decide the extent of mother tongue teaching. In Denmark, the decision is left to the municipalities and we believe that should be respected.
We believe that it is vital for children first and foremost to master the language of the host country so that they are not prevented later on from undertaking further education and gaining a foothold on the labour market."@en1
