"Mr President, from a technical point of view, the geological storage and capture of carbon dioxide certainly presents a very interesting challenge.
However, technical success will have to be achieved at a high cost and by using a large amount of energy. At the moment, while companies are experiencing great difficulties as a result of the economic crisis, it seems that all our resources should be focused on saving energy and the modernisation and construction of clean power stations which, instead of storing carbon, will dramatically reduce CO
emissions without incurring additional costs. This kind of technology has already been tried and tested in Europe. In view of the current situation, I do not support expenditure on the geological storage of carbon."@en1
