"I would like to add my congratulations for the fine job that has been done by the rapporteurs, negotiators and the many people who were involved behind the scenes and who made a contribution so that today we can have our final debate on the energy and climate package.
There is no doubt that this package will have an impact not only on the energy sector in the European Union, but also on industry as a whole and on transport. These sectors need to become even more low carbon, but the time for this is running out. Thanks to the efforts of the French Presidency, we have achieved the necessary compromises.
I cannot end without highlighting the fair way in which the interests of Central and Eastern European countries have been taken into consideration. I would like to appeal to the Commission by suggesting that one of the 12 projects should be in Bulgaria."@en1
