"Mr President, I would like to apologise for taking up your time. I have asked to make a personal statement because of the statement made by Mr Farage. Thank goodness he is still in the Chamber and therefore I can give him an answer. Normally he leaves directly after his speeches, but today he has stayed.
I would like to state firstly that I have never said that a ‘no’ vote would lead to some sort of fascism. I have never said that! The statement that you have made is simply wrong.
Secondly, Mr Cohn-Bendit, Mr Watson and I, Mr Pöttering and Mr Crowley took part in a meeting in the castle in Prague.
Who? Mrs Belohorská.
We were not informed in advance that our discussions at this meeting would be recorded on tape. Everyone in the room assumed that the meeting was confidential, in the same way that the Conference of Presidents had a confidential meeting last week with Mr Sarkozy in the Élysée Palace.
We discovered that the Czech press had reported on the content of the meeting which had been published without our knowledge by President Klaus. I do not know what sort of system it is where it is appropriate for things like this to happen, but it is certainly not appropriate in a democratic state."@en1
