".
Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, I voted in favour of the report of the Chairman of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, Mr Deprez, on the Council framework decision on the European Evidence Warrant. I agree with the objective of the report and the position it takes.
Facilitating the collection of cross-border evidence is without doubt an important step towards realising the principle of mutual recognition of judicial decisions. This principle forms the basis of judicial cooperation, the ultimate aim of which is to provide faster, effective judicial assistance for all Member States. I would like to point out that in order to guarantee a coherent European legal area and to ensure that judicial cooperation on criminal matters produces the desired effects, the legislative framework should be implemented by all Member States and the instruments should simplify assistance among the various national judicial authorities, without forgetting, of course, the protection of personal data."@en1
