".
We Swedish Social Democrats have chosen to vote for Marcin Libicki’s report on the planned gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea, although we wanted a clearer call for the investigation of an alternative route over land. However, we think that Parliament has set a clear line as regards an environmental impact assessment, which we support and welcome. We expect that further decisions will be conditional on an exhaustive and independent investigation. The Baltic Sea is sensitive and is already under severe environmental pressure. It is therefore of the utmost importance that the environmental impact can be kept to a strict minimum if permission is to be given for the pipeline to be built."@en1
