"Mr President, we have a new sport in Strasbourg: queuing to hire a bicycle. Despite EMAS, despite Green Week, despite promises at the highest level of the European Parliament, there are still only 50 bicycles for several thousand staff, and exactly seven bicycles for the hundred-plus Members. I do not know whether the problem lies with the city of Strasbourg or with Parliament itself. All I know is that displeasure is growing, both in this House and outside. I would be happy if we could reach a satisfactory solution as quickly as possible. This is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in Europe, if not the world, and we are lacking a couple of hundred bicycles."@en1
