".
I voted in favour of this report because I feel that it covers a range of aspects that are of major importance to Portugal, and indeed equally positive for the European Union in which I believe. The European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund and the Cohesion Fund are all of the highest importance in promoting the objectives of economic growth competitiveness, wealth creation and reducing the enormous regional disparities. I was therefore pleased to see the rapporteur address areas that I consider essential. For example, the report rejects any attempt to renationalise regional policy and any attempt to reduce amounts of state aid to least favoured regions, and endorses the Commission’s proposal to penalise businesses that relocate but still enjoy the benefits of European funds."@en1
