For those like me who advocate the completion of the internal market – without which we would not be able to meet some of the Union’s prime objectives, such as those set out in the Lisbon Agenda – the successful integration of the financial markets is something to be welcomed.
The existence of an action plan for that purpose and the results that have come to light are cause for some satisfaction. There is more work to be done, however, which, as the report before us points out, must be accompanied by a suitable assessment of the measures that will need to be taken over time, so that a good proposal is not spoiled by too many or too few legal instruments."@en1
