With regard to international matters, the EU must not overlook the fact that the various Member States have different relationships with third countries. Legislation must therefore guarantee that each Member State is able to act and react to its own situation in relation to the world.
As the mechanism was difficult to use, it was not put into practice. I therefore endorse the move to make it more flexible. Furthermore, the availability of other avenues in terms of taking action has the potential to be useful and effective. I therefore feel that we should support the solution that has been reached."@en1
