"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I should like to remind all Members of this House, both those who voted for and those who voted against, that the vote was not on whether Turkey should be accepted into the European Union or not. This may well be a good thing. What Parliament has done is to vote in favour of opening negotiations with Turkey. Whether Turkey joins the European Union or not will depend on the course of these negotiations and on their outcome. It is my impression that there are still Members of the House who are not aware of this."@en1
