".
Mr Howitt, I can promise you that in the final and conclusive report on whether Turkey meets the political pre-accession requirements we will carefully consider this matter. The Commission will investigate this question, as it has investigated all other human rights issues in Turkey. The Commission will draw together all information available from its own sources, from Member States, from human rights organisations and international monitoring bodies and also from all public information sources. Obviously, the Commission will also ask all those involved to provide relevant information, and will then assess all the data it has gathered. If necessary, missions will be sent out to get a first-hand impression of the situation on the ground. We attach a great deal of importance to ensuring that our assessments are based on sound, reliable information, and will ensure that applies here."@en1
