".
The European Parliament's retraction on the proposals for the Members' Statute blew out the possibility of a solution to the problem during the Italian Presidency. Today's resolution endeavours to restore once again the possibility of resolving the problem, which is why I voted in favour of it. The European Parliament is exposed to public opinion; it cannot act as public prosecutor to the other Community institutions when its own house is not in order. With the system of travel expenses in particular, every effort must be made to improve this before the European elections."@en1
