"Question No 44 by María Izquierdo Rojo ():
The EU Scientific Committee indicated as long ago as June 2000 that Spain was a high risk country for BSE, while the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture described the report published by that body as ‘irresponsible’ (all of which was the subject of various Parliamentary questions I submitted in 2000). In recent months there has been a sharp increase in the number of BSE cases in Spain and that number is still continuing to rise. Does this not indicate that the 1996 Community ban on bone meal for ruminants has not been correctly transposed in Spain?"@en1
