Mr President, I can well imagine the disappointment felt by Mrs Plooij-van Gorsel, but, as I have indicated before, the legislator – which thus includes the European Parliament – was of the opinion that far-reaching harmonisation was not desirable. This is how the legislation process went and there is nothing we can do about it now. However, I do understand why Mrs Plooij-van Gorsel is disappointed. It might have been preferable to apply a higher level of harmonisation but this is not how it was decided."@en1
