I therefore agree, in addition to the technical issues, with the rapporteur’s suggestion that medical devices should be reclassified. She proposes a legal framework and that a distinction should be made between medical devices having a pharmacological effect, and others. Similarly, I agree with the idea that Member States should adopt the measures necessary to ensure that single-use devices are not reused. Lastly, I decided also to support the report when it states that it is crucial to include explicit provisions on public access to documents. Distributing and promoting information to the citizens, especially in this field, must be pursued as a priority, in order to ensure both citizen participation and the high level of consumer protection we wish to see."@en1
