". – Mr President, I am afraid the Commission does not share the opinion which has been expressed by the honourable Member. Indeed, the grave concern which the Commission feels was highlighted in the European Union statement on human rights in the world at the United Nations meeting in Geneva last week. That statement calls for the prompt release of those whom the European Union considers to be prisoners of opinion. It goes without saying that a prompt release excludes the death penalty or any other kind of penalty. That is feeling of the Commission and Mr Nielson, in particular."@en1
