lpv:translated text	"The European Union is about to carry its title with far more justification thanks to its predominantly eastern enlargement. Along with the Brok report, we would underline the strategic goal of this historic process, namely a peaceful and prosperous co-existence of the peoples in our Continent. I have already brought to your attention the fact that a primarily financial approach to enlargement does not do justice to its importance and character. Hence my appeal to the Member States not to raise any new obstructions in respect of enlargement. This appeal includes the demand to review the agricultural policy prior to enlargement. However, when a common position is adopted on the agricultural chapter, a fair prospect is required for both the candidate countries and the current net payers. Net receivers could show – more so than is the case at the moment – financial solidarity with the future Member States. Paragraph 8 of the Brok report is being slightly over-demanding of the candidate countries. It is downright unrealistic to expect the governments in central and eastern Europe to have resolved the extremely complex Roma issue by the end of this decade. This, of course, does not detract in any way from the appeal for a liveable situation, where the Roma have their own responsibilities. As we are now discussing the political criteria of Copenhagen, I should like to ask Commissioner Verheugen another question. Various radio stations in the candidate countries are indulging in hate campaigns against Roma and the Jews. Would you mind bringing this to the attention of the competent authorities? After all, the fight against racism, xenophobia and anti-semitism are core values of the EU Member States."@en1
