"Commissioner, at the beginning of your speech you indicated that the challenges facing us are globalisation and enlargement. Together with other MEPs, I have just attended the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, where it was clearly shown that with the problem of globalisation we are entering a new era, in which the European Union must play a fundamental role in the world.
