Triples with object This relates to an MEP from the Greek Communist Party, Sotirios Zarianopoulos. The Greek authorities are proposing to prosecute him jointly with others in his capacity as a former member of Thessaloniki City Council for failing to comply with legal obligations. The case concerns the issuing in 2011 by Thessaloniki City Council of allegedly illegal permits to use public property for the purpose of setting up outside seating areas on pavements. Zarianopoulos himself informed MEPs that he would vote in favour of the report that will result in the waiving of his immunity. Because the proposed proceedings do not concern opinions expressed or votes cast in the performance of the duties as MEP, and the proceedings involve all those who were members of the city council at the time, I voted in favour of waiving immunity.
