Triples with object I voted in favour of this report because child poverty in my constituency remains a problem and the Tories continue to be bent on maintaining a situation where poverty needlessly affects young people. Labour MEPs have always championed a better quality of life, especially for the most vulnerable in society. The report calls for a real commitment from Member States to tackle the factors which are causing child poverty and increase the scope of social support for children. It promotes labour laws that guarantee – amongst other things – a statutory adequate minimum wage and collective agreement, which will provide greater security for families and fight precarious employment.
