Triples with object I do not believe that EU funds should be used to subsidise the farming of bulls used in bullfights. Taxpayersʼ money should not be used to fund any practice which causes animals unnecessary pain, suffering or distress. Given the UK Conservative delegation’s opposition to coupled payments under the CAP, it is imperative that these animals are identifiable in order to stop any payments of this kind. For this reason I supported Amendment 12 of the vote on the resolution and Amendment 232 of the vote on the budget lines. Animals used for lethal bullfighting activities should not be eligible to receive any direct CAP appropriations nor any other appropriations from the budget.
