In fact, the last fisheries agreement was never ratified because of the coup that took place a few days after it was signed. The new protocol covers a period of one year. It contains an additional clause that means it can be suspended in cases of violation of human rights and democratic principles. The global financial contribution under the protocol is EUR 7.5 million, to support the fisheries policy of Guinea-Bissau, and it will provide authorisations for European tuna vessels and trawlers."@en1
