"Mr President, today’s Annual Growth Survey report clearly warns that the eurozone’s recovery is extremely fragile. Unemployment is declining modestly and growth is rising slowly, but dangerous economic conditions are not far away: EUR 1 trillion in non-performing bank loans, sky-high national debt and weak investment; and Italy is weak, while Greece is once again on the verge of collapse.
The United Kingdom is a vital trading partner essential to the jobs of millions of Europeans. Therefore, it is of vital importance that those involved in the Brexit negotiations seek an agreement that frees free trade and empowers the Europeans to pursue growth, rather than taking the line of those in this House, like Mr Verhofstadt and his followers, who wish to punish the UK for daring to leave the EU, or demand that Scotland leave too. These are the kamikaze messengers willing to sacrifice European jobs and prosperity on the dream of a failed ideology."@en1
