"The proposal of the Commission is amending Directive 2012/34/EU (‘Recast Directive’), which should have been implemented into national systems by June 2015. This proposal was closely linked to the Regulation on the opening of the market for domestic passenger transport (PSO Regulation), addressing the main obstacles to the creation of the Single European Railway Area. I believe this deal shows the fragmentation of the European rail market and only strengthens national monopolies where they exist. Accordingly, the creation of a large European Railway Area open and performance will be postponed indefinitely. Therefore I do not support the proposal."@en1
