"I voted in favour of this own-initiative report that assesses the situation of Women’s rights in the six Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus, which are covered by the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). Social and economic discrimination and gender stereotypes are still widespread across these countries, preventing greater inclusion of women in the labour market and participation in political decision-making processes. More worryingly, the high levels of violence against women and the lack of access to sexual and reproductive health remains challenging. Women’s Rights and gender equality issues must be kept on the political agenda. We must do more to support grassroots women’s organisations and civil society, which are best positioned to reach out to local populations as well as help to raise awareness."@en1
