"I chose to abstain on this item because, whilst the report makes many admirable conclusions and I welcomed the attack on protectionist barriers in transport, I could not support the claims and implications of ‘social dumping’ also contained in the report. The report claims new business models such as Uber can create distortions in terms of pay and social security systems, thereby leading to ‘social dumping’ and then goes on to suggest that a coordinated multi-modal European regulatory framework is the best way these new businesses have of outcompeting established firms in the market."@en1
