"I supported the motions for resolutions on trans fats and noted no objections. I supported this vote because excess consumption of TFAs causes health problems, and cutting out or reducing transfats could save up to 50 000 lives in Europe every year. MEPs have asked the Commission in this vote to carry out a substantial impact assessment before presenting a legal proposal, and this means that local producers will not unfairly suffer."@en1
