"I voted in favour of this resolution on the mid-term revision of the multiannual financial framework. (MFF) 2014-2020. After a review of the performance of the MFF in the first half of this programming period as presented in the resolution of 6 July 2016, this resolution outlines that a substantial amount of additional funding from the EU budget is required. It highlights a number of new crises and priorities that have emerged over the past years, notably the migration and refugee crisis, external emergencies, internal security issues, the crisis in agriculture, the funding of the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) and the persistent high level of unemployment, especially among young people. I was particularly pleased that the motion emphasised our core values of peace and stability by highlighting the importance of the Good Friday Agreement, and the need to protect specific measures and programmes to ensure support for the regions particularly affected in the event of a negotiated exit from the EU upon the invocation of Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon."@en1
