"UKIP voted against this non-legislative and non—binding report. UKIP does not support the development of an EU foreign policy and such does not recognise the legitimacy of the EU to engage in diplomatic relations with Iran. UKIP rejects the notion that the Iranian nuclear deal was a ‘success for EU diplomacy’ and opposes its attempted use by the EU as a justification for the further development of an EU foreign policy. Furthermore, trade policy should be a matter for Member States and not the EU Commission. There are serious human rights concerns, both domestically in Iran and throughout the Middle East, propagated by the Iranian regime proxies. We have supported articles that purely discuss human rights and rejected those that contain calls for the EU to take action. This is more effectively left to appropriate international institutions and individual states."@en1
