"UKIP voted against this binding motion for a resolution. The motion was to give consent to the Commission proposal. The Commission proposal was to spend an extra EUR 15.8 million on security provisions for EU institutions. Some of the provisions were not objectionable, such as extra CCTV and x-ray machines. However, the only security proposal for the European Parliament was to create posts for 35 EU officials who will be armed and deployed within Parliament. If there is to be external security, it should be through professional private contractors or nation-state security, not through arming EU officials. The proposal would mean the acquisition of 7 new armoured vehicles for the European External Action Service and spending money on securing the private lodgings of EU Commissioners."@en1
