"Mr President, I was very honoured to attend, on behalf of Parliament, the COP21 in Paris with the historic global agreement. I will be very honoured to attend COP22 in Marrakesh, Morocco, especially after we have ratified the Agreement here in Parliament, signed in the presence of Ban Ki-moon by our President, Mr Schulz.
There is no doubt that this is the really big challenge because, if we do not save the planet, all other problems will disappear because the planet will not exist and people will not be able to live here. I am glad about the progress we are making and very pleased with the leadership that has been shown by the Commission and by the European Union generally and hope that will continue. I am of course also pleased that in my own country a great deal of research is being undertaken to come up with innovative solutions cognisant of climate change, especially in the area of sustainable agriculture, something which is not often recognised. This is the way to go."@en1
