"Madam President, thank you for the opportunity to take part in this stage-managed, pretend debate where people on the other side of the House can come out with figures about the people who are in that Calais Jungle without the slightest shred of evidence. I will tell you why I know this: because I have been there and there are a thousand people registered and 10 000 people outside the walls, not registered. So how you can come up with a figure for children is nonsense. You can wave all the pretend leaflets you like. It makes no difference. I did not realise until tonight that France was a totalitarian state, persecuting and prosecuting people, and where people are in fear of their lives. If it is not, then there are no refugees or asylum seekers in Calais or anywhere else, there are only criminals seeking to break UK laws to get into the country or people being trafficked by criminals to get into our country. The French nation has a proud tradition. I believe that the French Government has let the French people down. It is time for them to be honourable, dismantle these camps, break up these criminal gangs, register genuine asylum seekers and stop the other economic migrants seeking to break the law to get into the UK."@en1
