We will not meet the demographic challenges we face – including the need to care for an ageing population – unless we modernise existing leave arrangements. Fathers taking time out of work to care for children must be supported by the right to paternity leave. We also support greater rights for carers, more extensive maternity leave rights and better implementation of existing legislation. These changes will bring benefits to the economy as a whole, and ensure that women and men are equal earners and carers."@en1
