It emphasises that each ESI Fund (ESF, ERDF, Cohesion fund, EFMM and EARDF) supports 11 thematic objectives and the thematic objective 3 is about ‘enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, the agricultural sector and the fisheries and aquaculture sector’ and the related investment priorities for the ERDF. While it was a generally good report, it also made positive reference to the Capital Markets Union aimed at developing non-bank lending (shadow banking), which Sinn Féin strongly opposes. Because of this call being included, I did not vote in favour of the overall report but abstained."@en1
