"Madam President, the British Government, not content with dragging the people of the North of Ireland out of the EU, are now keeping us in the dark about their intentions for our future. Theresa May’s Government is divided and confused. Brexit means Brexit, but what does it mean for the people of England, Scotland or Wales and for the people in the North of Ireland? They do not know, and that is hurting communities and businesses. Both the British and Irish Governments must immediately explore ways by which the democratic wishes of the people of the North of Ireland can be respected. Fifty-six per cent of the people voted to remain – so they need to listen to the people, including human rights groups, language activists, children’s campaigners, businesses, the voluntary and community sector, students, farmers and political parties, who all said loud and clear: ‘remain means remain’. Hundreds and thousands of us in the North of Ireland have Irish passports and that means we are EU citizens, therefore remain must mean remain."@en1
